Some of my New Year’s Eve light reading included a list of traditions or beliefs about New Year’s Day, which advised the first day of the year sets the tone for the rest of the year, so do not let money leave the house, pay no bills, and eat lucky foods. Another one said the first person to cross the threshold of your home in the New Year is important.
The first person to cross the threshold at the Artist in Residence house is Adam. He arrives by way of a very fast- looking red car and a posting from Craigslist, wherein he expressed a need for barn wood for his sculptural projects. He finds a few things put aside in the garage. He can use them in his work. This makes me very happy.
