The Literacy Council of Reading-Berks, tucked away on Dwight Street in West Lawn, has multi-cultural cookbooks for sale and we stopped in this afternoon to purchase one or two, because they make nice gifts and we are always hungry. We also found out they have a recent graduate – a student who just completed a GED!
The literacy council is always in need of tutors for students ages 19 to 70 or more. Training is required and the next session is Wednesday December 15. Tutors work one-to-one with persons who want to learn to read. Students take reading tests and may be in a wide range of reading levels. Retaining students is a challenge and we are particularly interested.
The stones in the red gravel made a pleasing pattern, too.
